Character designer Kyoji Asano has confirmed that WIT Studio's One Piece anime remake is still underway—just progressing "pretty slowly." In a new interview shared via Weibo, Asano revealed he was working on new animation cuts just the day before.
🧭 The remake was originally announced by Netflix back in December 2023 and is meant to reimagine the East Blue Saga, including key arcs like Romance Dawn, Orange Town, and Syrup Village.
🎥 The last official update came during One Piece Day 2024, featuring concept art and commentary from creator Eiichiro Oda, who encouraged the team to adapt the story in their own creative style.
💬 Netflix’s version promises a “fresh yet familiar” take on One Piece using modern animation techniques while staying faithful to Oda’s artistic vision.
👀 Though no release window is set, we may see a new reveal during One Piece Day 2025 this August.
